LETICIA MOREIRA

Gastroenterologist at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, specializing in high-risk digestive cancer clinic (pancreatic and gastric cancer).
She completed her PhD on Lynch syndrome, other hereditary forms of colorectal cancer, and methylation in 2011, and conducted a postdoctoral stay at the University of Pennsylvania, USA (2015-2017), specializing in cellular and molecular biology, gene editing, and organoid modeling. She was awarded the Ramon Margalef Prize from the University of Barcelona for the best article derived from a doctoral thesis (2015). She is dedicated to her clinical and research work in gastrointestinal oncology and has previous experience coordinating multicenter studies in Spain, such as EPICOLON for colorectal cancer and now EPIGASTRIC for stomach cancer. She is currently the coordinator of 4 multicenter studies in Spain: a) Extracolonic tumors in Lynch syndrome (25 centers); b) Hereditary gastric cancer (27 centers); c) Epigastric: the first prospective multicenter study in Spain on gastric cancer (40 centers); d) Prevenpanc: prospective multicenter study in Spain to prevent pancreatic cancer (9 centers). Additionally, she is the Scientific Director of the European and World Helicobacter Pylori Registry.
She is a professor and coordinator of Digestive System at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona and serves as the international relations representative of the Spanish Association of Gastroenterology.
